Has anybody been to see this film yet? I know that usually these kinds of posts would go up in the film forum but hey it's comic related and I just wanna get your opinions.

Personally....I thought the Bullseye and Kingpin characters were overacted, the martial arts were trying too hard to be like the Matrix and the whole "I'm not the bad guy" was a bit much. However i'm not a regular reader of the comic so I came to this film with a fairly open mind.

The beginning and end of the film seemed a bit abrupt. I suppose the start was good getting to know the character as you always need to....but the guy seemed to be able to do the whole full flips pretty easily. The ending as well.....sounded like really badly written banter between the good guy (not the bad guy) and the bad guy.

BTW I'm certain you all saw the cameo of Marvel's very own Stan Lee. He seems to be getting bigger parts in these films now hehehe

    I've seen it. Twice, natch.

It's good - basically the Frank Miller story condensed, but good. Affleck was a dead ringer for Matt Murdock, Bullseye and The Kingpin were criminally underused and Elektra was fairly rubbish.

Stan Lee wasn't the only cameo though. Frank Miller was the guard Bullseye killed with the pencils, Kevin Smith was the guy in the morgue. Most of the prize-fighters mentioned in the films are comic book artists/writers too - I heard Bendis and Miller.

I like Daredevil the comic book a fair bit and much to my suprise the film wasn't too bad. The first half of it was basically the first half of the Daredevil: Year One story without Stick and Matt Murdocks training. The Second half seemed a bit rushed to me and like Nekki said Kingpin was criminally underused.

It is still worth the money to go see it.

****WARNING INCLUDES SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE FILM****

So you didn't think for film purposes the fact that this blind boy can suddenly do full mid air flips when it was only his face that got exposed to the chemicals? And the other end of the film where the Kingpin sounded more like the archvillain out of Inspector Gadget "I'll get you next time Daredevil.....Next tiiiiiiiimeeeeee......."

I don't know if this was a bad script in parts or just bad directing. I mean the bit in the park when he's fighting Elektra and all the kids are watching. Don't you think it weird that neither Elektra or the kids found it beyond belief that a blind man could move and fight better than someone without impared vision?

Then the whole Bullseye "I am god" poses throughout the film then he is stigmatised at the end by a bullet - still doing his whole "Jesus on a cross" pose. I mean do you think that was part of the script or did Colin just feel like he was the man?

I mean fair enough most of the film was well worth the money to see it - generally the main part of the film and the Daredevil/Elektra love interest, but I really did think the start and end were rushed. I mean the film wasn't even 2 hours long. I figured that in itself would have been against Ben's usual stance on films :P

If they had stretched it to just over 2 hours I feel they could have added much needed story parts to explain it fully.

Oh yeah and as for Daredevil unmasking himself at the end to the Kingpin? Do you really think that he's not going to be bothered to send out another troop of assassins to kill him while he works or even expose his secret identity just because he's blind? And as for his rep in jail - The Kingpin wouldn't be adverse to picking someone out and killing them in jail just to show them who's boss! That's enough to show you're not weak.

when they make films based on comics they aint ever really taking it seriously. i think generally its just an excuse for a load of special effects. can still be enjoyable once you try not to read into it too much tho

    As was Spiderman ;)

I remember alot of people saying it was "awful" etc, but thats spiderman, I think the same applies for all these films, you have to take them in context of the comic and nothing else.

HeHe, sorry about the delay in pitching in :)

I'm a die hard DD fan, so what I am about to say will possibly surprise..

I thought the film story line was great but the problem I had was the script (in the literal sense.. the line by line bits as opposed to the over all) and the general direction and CGI..

Overall I came away happy (btw.. did everyone sit through the credits to see Bullseye at the end.. hehe) but there were a few bits of the movie I cringed for.. (The bit on the organ over the flames in cgi.. Ouch..)

I do feel that as others have said the characters weren't used to their full ability but I do feel it is like spiderman in the sense that I am hoping the first film will establish the bharacters so the second story can hit the ground running (please god..)
