FOX ****ed around with futurama because they don't like Matt Groening and his control over the show....

they kept messing around with the schedule for it and so the ratings ended up suffering as far as i know

WHAT! I didn't know that... Why is it that great, funny shows like Family Guy and Futurama get axed when The Simpsons continues even when the last two series has been unfunny rubbish (Maybe two exceptions)

the simpsons is still being made as it will continue to draw a audience simply because its "the simpsons" and not because of how good it is

why these shows got cancelled(not that i knew family guy ha been) i cant understand though

I always thought that futurama was just a copy of the simpsons, and this ment that it had to compete very hard with the simpsons.

Saying that there are some great cartoons for adults that have all been axed

    Bob The Devil And God
    Dilbert
Futurama (I am sure there are more but i can think of any)

So why keep The Simpsons, they make money not just on selling them to C4 for nearly $6mill and then there is the rest of the world and of course all the retail and advertising revenue.

As far as I know Family guy is still running

futurama a copy of the simpsons ? dunno where you can draw that conclusion from...

I'll grant that futurama was made by a team where most of them had previously worked on the simpsons. If you visit a simpsons newsgroup you'll notice they are all moaning about how the current writing team is crap.... but 'old' one that made all the seemingly classic episodes had mostly moved to futurama. Also the groening animation style comes through but is clearly surpassed. Otherwise it's TOTALLY different, much better in some ways, definitely a classic of animation.

Family guy was cancelled ages ago, hasn't run in over a year

The ratings for futurama on the cartoon network have been really good and proved the show is excellent once it's treated right, they're booking it in prime time and advertising it everywhere and on billboards and stuff, which fox never used to do.

I found bad Simpsons episodes more entertaining than Futurama most of the time. I thought The Critic was a much better spinoff.

The Critic rocked. I think we should form a gang and go around torturing and killing the people who decide to cancel great shows like Family Guy(better than any other cartoon ever) and Dilbert and such. A bit extreme?? I don't care

I watch The Simpsons now for the same reason that I watch Friends - both are long past their sell-by-date but are still capable of scoring a bulls-eye every so often.

Never liked the Critic though Futurama was good.

The Simpsons bore me now, I'd rather not watch it, but the housemates wanna watch. It was class in its time, but after 13 yrs watching it, its well past its sell-by. Especially the first 2 or 3 series.

Futurama is absolute class, I love it. The episode with the time skips and the Harlem Globetrotters was deadly.

I didnt know that the simpson old writing team now did Futurama.

You can pre-order the third season of futurama on dvd from blackstar. I think it's out sometime around late April, same with Family Guy season 3.

They've shown 7 new episodes of season 5, with the seventh being shown yesterday in America. They're going to show two more new episodes in the next two weeks and then hold on to the final 6 and no one knows when they'll show them but it's a 100% certainty that they will be the final 6. Sky One are pretty much up-to-date and only a few episodes behind.

According to play.com, the region 2 version of Futurama Series 3 is out at the beginning of June and Family Guy Series 3 is out at the end of June.
