I've used Sound Forge a bit and found it to be excellent.
You should be able to download a demo from www.sonicfoundry.com

Ye Cubase or Protools. You can get free Pro Tools from downloads.com.

Protools is the best but you need a great PC (or better a Mac G4) with a lot of RMA and a huge HD to run it properly, more about this at www.morellorocks.com/equipment.html

(Bear in mind the free version has only 4 tracks)

Second choice is Cubase but if you don't need any fancy features you better go for Cakewalk which is very simple to use

    Have fun! A.
