Do you guy's not find it 'odd' that first time UN was reluctant to go in with all guns blazing, USA found 'bio, moveable factory's'

Now that there are countries standing up against the fortification of Turkey they find back OSAMA.

    Who's next ? Rodney King ?

Yes, but the US have immediately claimed that Osama's declaration PROVES that he's in league with Saddam.

Even though among all his blabberings about a Greater Israel and pan-Islamic resistance, he takes time out to say that he is not "championing the non-Islamic regimes in all Arab countries, including Iraq".

But obviously we should push to the back of our minds the thought that Osama would say exactly the same thing were America threatening Egypt, and that this proves only that threatening war against Iraq will in the future push Iraq and Al-Qaeda closer together, thus achieving precisely the opposite of stated US foreign policy.

Feeble indeed is the cunning of Colin Powell.

You would think that, would'nt you?
However, my thoughts are that it suits to have a state of fear existing in the USA, and the spectre of Osama creates just that.
Hence, they can justify war to the nation with just about anyone, just look at their attitude to France/Germany because they are daring to question the motification and pace of the current situation.

The last tape that emerged when analysed by sound engineers was proven to be edited together from short clipped phrases and sentences recorded over an indeterminable period of time which bore little or no resemblence to OBLs normal elocution which favours long flowing verses.

When asked about the new tape political figures come out with that old Yes Minister favorite "I have no reason to believe the voice is not that of Bin Laden",not the same as saying "i think its him"

Personally i think he is still dead.

    State of Fear
A bit like sending out the tanks to protect heathrow from a shoulder launched missile attack?
How much use a tank would be in preventing a SA missile launch is pretty debateable

yeah its amazing away the "bogey man" is back when they need him. If osama REALLY was as cunning as they say with regard to the WTC ... you'd think he'd keep his trap shut about any ties with Iraq... neh?

    DeV.

Well, even if it is real, so what?

If the US decided today that they were going to attack Sealand then it wouldn't be unlikely that tomorrow Osama would pledge his support for Sealand "in the struggle against the satanic American agressor".

Osama would be hoping for the US to beat seven shades of **** out of the Iraqis, hopefully killing as many civilians as possible in the process since that would be a more effective recruitment tool than military targets getting hit.

Original source was the today program on radio 4 a day or two after the tape aired,if i find anything to substantiate it i will let you know.

    ....
    Edit ....nothing conclusive so far

    prison planet

    bbc

    slate

    guardian

    Turkishdaily

    Satire
    .........
Edit >>>This one is a bit odd
apparently the US had the latest tape five days before Al Jezeera got it

Yesterday, al-Jazeera staff appeared surprised at the arrangements for submitting Bin Laden tapes to the US via the Qatari government. "I'm not aware of this procedure at all," said a spokesman. "We got the tape at the station literally two hours before it was aired. A group of us huddled round and listened to it, and discussed what to do with it in the light of Mr Powell's statement."

Washington's possession of an advance copy may also explain why US officials were able to declare so soon after the broadcast that they believed it was indeed Bin Laden. German security sources said they also believed it was genuine.
