First of all, I don't know if this is the right forum to post this...

but, I thought since you guys would buy dvd's I would ask you.

I seem to be having problems with the address verification from play.com

Here is the email they sent me
    Dear xxx xxx xx

Thankyou for opening your account with Play.com. At this time we are
unable to process your order as your Credit/Debit card issuer has notified
us that the card holder address you supplied us with does not match the
    one they have on record.

Can you please check the following:

    1) Cardholder address - This should be the address where your Credit Card
Bills or Bank Statements are sent to.

    2) That your house number (or name) and postcode are exactly the same as
they appear on your Credit Card Bills or Bank Statment.

If you do find a discrepancy please update your details online so that
your order can continue to be processed. If, however you do not find any
discrepancies, contact your credit/debit card issuer to confirm the
address they have on file for you.

    Kind Regards

    Play

This is the second time that I have got this from them and I can't figure out what the problem is. I have been in touch with my credit card people, and verified the address. The only problems are the lack of address lines(need another one for the county) and the post code( there isn't one).

Have any of you had this problem? if so how did you fix it.
I have already sent play emails detailing my problem and the responces I got where pretty poor.

I have ordered many things online and have had no problems so why is there one with play?? Anyone, any ideas because i ain't got anymore..

Try putting in 0000 as your post code.

It seems to be, as you say, a problem with insufficient address fields on Play's website. I suggest you do the following:

    Contact your Credit Card company.

Ask them to add a second address which matches the address you entered in Play's database.

Request that they authorise this address for the purpose of deliveries.

Contact Play when this is confirmed, and see if it has been accepted.

Note: As regards Post Code - Use your County e.g. CO CORK. That should placate them.

The thing is the address I gave them is the address on my credit card-bar the county. I have tried putting the county in the post code but that also didn't work

Try putting a "," (comma) between lines 1 and 2 in the first field?

    e.g. Flat **, 11 Bishop Street
    Ballyvourney
    Co Cork

I have n/a as my postcode.

Check what address is on your Credit Card statement. Thats what play.com are validating against.

I deal with credit card systems a lot through work. The bottom line is Irish credit cards can rarely be address verified because An Post don't have a rigid addressing system.

This will throw up warning flags with card processing systems that are used to such modern inventions such as "post codes".

You could keep playing around with it or email play.com and tell them you don't have a postcode.
    Sometimes they believe you....

I know the address they have on file for me is slightly different to my statement address but I haven't had problems.

Maybe this is a new thing?

A big thank you to one mBroaders

To anyone who is still interested 0000 in the post code worked a treat. I left all the other details the way I had them and it worked.

    Unbelievable, imo

Yeah I always use 0000 for postcode, because a lot of form dont accept n/a because there's no digits.

    I usually use NA00 00NA or NA00000 for zipcode.

I usually try the following to solve postcode problems:

    1. Use your Tab key to move down to the postcode box.

    2. Enter a space (thats right, just hit the space bar)

    3. Now Tab to the next filed, whatever that may be.

For some reason, a lot of sites recognise a space as a character, and will accept it as a postcode. The benefit of this is that you will not get any character entered on the address label when its sent to you. I suspect many of the postal delays I've been getting have been as a result of the various alternatives I've used for postcode in the past. I have to use "none" as a postcode with pearljam.com, and that prints as "Ireland none", which (a) looks stupid, and (b) may cause confusion between the republic and the north...maybe!

On a related topic, could your name have to be entered case specific, i.e. in upper case, as "that how it appears" on the card?
