This place seems deserted recently *watchs tumbleweed* so I might as well put up a new topic. What troops do you buy just so they can die? :)
My favourite would have to be Nurglings, with 3 attacks you cant let them in close, but with 3wounds and only 10points, and an invunrable save, their gonna last in the heat of battle, their great for holding up heavy weapon squads, as when their in close their 3wounds means thats 1 enemy squad out of action for a turn or 2, if its a squad of heavy weapon troops your holding up, time to roll in the deamons! if you got a bloodthirster in your arsenal and there are no heavy weapons to take him down, the enemy team have problems, big red blood thirsty problems, now you just gotta hope he possess's a measly aspiring champ :)

So come on, post your fodder! Imperial guards do a superb job aswell, their sole perpose in life is to absorb a bullet! (maybe use their lasgun to warm your hands on ice worlds)

Nice grots you got there steve-o, how many it take you to kill a lord? 20? 70? :D

But all orc units make good fodder, their cheap tough and cant be left un checked, pity they cant hit a barn yard from 6feet away with their shoota's.

    My Vindicator

Thinking of painting a big red target on it but decided on little red laser targeting dots instead. It just attracks so much firepower, its worth it- once it does not blow up on the 1st shot.

in my tme gretchin were the choice cannon fodder you got i think 20 in a box and mobs could be 40 strong! they were such a laugh! i can only assume that they are no longer in 40k or else someone would have already mentioned them!

Gretchin are now grots, same thing more or less, except even weedier () and now they can leap up to absorb bullets to give guys behind them a 5+ invunrable save, but if you succeed this save you lose a grot! You can also use them to clear mine fields, they run into a mine field and a certain amount of them go boom! and no more mine field, so ork's can cross safely, their just made to be killed :)

    WAAAAaaaa Da Grotz!

They're the perfect cannon fodder. They're designed to be cannon fodder, what with their living shield rule. Don't forget Da Boyz can step on top of them in order to move through difficult terrain faster! The ultimate in expendable troops, and all for the low, low price of 5 pts a model! And they can get really lucky and take down characters!
