What does valentine's day mean to you?

For me, it has no meaning at all. After discussing it with the girlfriend, we decided not to get each other any cards or big fluffy puppies, because it doesn't actually *mean* anything. We show our love for each other in other ways - what exactly is a cute fluffy puppy supposed to mean anyway?

I can see how it might be a good opportunity to show how sweet/caring you can be at the beginning of a relationship, but otherwise - do you see it as important?

What does Valentine's day meant to me?

Well it's my birthday so I suppose it's pretty important to me :)
Sorry, prolly not the type of answer you were looking for, but I suppose it is whatever you and your significant other decide to make of it....

Of course if you don't have a significant other its a choice between moping and realising that its just another commercial event.

I usually choose the first one and this year's no exception :(

Well if you show affection on a regular basis it mightn't be as special. The bored underappreciated house wives might be happy though getting some flowers and chocolates.

To me valentines day is just another excuse to show affection to the special someone in your life. You can never have enough excuses. :)

Its also the day that creates a healthy dividend on my interflora shares.

Valentines Day is a load of rubbish really. all it does is give big companies the opportunity to make more cash  you do not need to go out and buy those cards or teddy bears to show your special person that you care

Always makes me think "I need to get my parents an anniversary token". Even then I still forget.

As for it being Valentines day - I think it's nice to have days in the year that are special in some way, having a day for romance is pretty cool. It also allows for you to go up to someone and profess your undying love for them... maybe. I hate the fact that these days of the year - Christmas, Easter, Solstice, Gordonday etc has gotten so commercial. Thems is the drawbacks of living in a capitalist country. /me shoots a hail of salivated paper pellets into the sky.

Dude! You don't buy a whole bunch of roses, the single rose is always more romantic. Unless you want to do the whole spreading the petals on the bed thing... that'll cost you.

Bag of ****e bag of ****e bag of ****e.

    That's pretty much it.

I suppose if you're single it's a good night to try and pick up people in clubs. (Is this true?)

I'm happy to have a girlfriend who would probably kill me if I bought her a card for Valentine's day or any such teddy bear ****e.

(I have never bought a Valentine's card in my 23 years and amn't planning to start any time soon).

To me it used to mean stinging friends by sending them anon. cards back in the days when girls were icky and then laughing at there embarrasment.
Now, it doesnt mean a thing to me. Just another day, I would never remember it if it werent for all the commercial hype around it.

Sending another bloody card to my left hand.

Oh, and laughing at the amount of money some people spend.

What does valentine's day mean to you?

It's a day I can have a really good excuse (as if I needed one) to get romantic with a woman. Valentines is good as an icebreaker or as a declaritive of amourous intent, at least, it is for me.

The only question I pose to myself is 'how many' of the women I potentially desire I 'should' send cards to?

All your eggs in one basket and such.
