We got broadband strategy wrong, says BT chief

In an amazing - if somewhat belated - admission, BT Retail chief exec, Pierre Danon, has admitted that when it comes to broadband, the monster telco hasn't always got things right.

Reflecting on BT's broadband strategy, the Guardian quotes Mr Danon as saying: "As you know, we started completely wrong. It was all wrong and we had to change. We had to start again."

So, Mr Danon has put on a hefty pair of hobnail boots and given his predecessors a right good kicking, while simultaneously bigging up the work done since Ben Verwaayen became chief exec of BT Group a year ago.

    Which is nice.

    Sort of. ®

Im sure this will pass eircom (and esat, come to think of it) by, but then, why should i be surprised at that.

Roll on a similar announcement by eircom in 5 years. "But we didnt know!" they will plead. Chortle chortle.

Of course, we know that Eircom know exactly what they are doing.

Any idiot could have told them that selling ADSL initially for over 100 euros would have resulted in very few sales, but they would not have been interested.
