    It's a little-known fact that Mr. Hendrix used to wind the coils in his pickups tighter to generate more electrical signals, and give us the distorted/overdrive effect we now take for granted by pressing buttons on an amp/footpedal.

    Yeah he increased the output, so if you have higher output pickups, they distort even when clean on higher volumes. Sounds cool though :>
