Builders on the top floor burst a water pipe and flooded the entire shop.

ground floor with all those ralph lauren shirts got it worst.

I was there just as everyone was being evacuated. Was mad. I first I thought there was some new water display in the window but realise the water was flowing through the light bulbs :)
The emergency exit at the side, on wiclow st, was open and water was flowing out of it like a waterfall with water 1inch high on each step. Front doors were closed and crowd was gathering. Came back after looking in Game and they fire brigade had just arrived to turn off sprinklers. They then opened doors and were throwing buckets of water into the street and brushing water out the door in *waves*. Place looked royally fecked.

Everyone laughing at them and some saying it serves them right cos they so expensive, but i think its a nightmare situation that no retailer, big or small, should have to go through :(

Must be the Dublin one (Dublin people being unaware that there are in fact some settlements west of Kildare:D)

Sure the insurance companys will probably pay for it with all the extra money there making on the point system.

Twas a builder of one form or another that burst the pipe. I'd say it will be a calin against the contracting company that will pay for everything.

I heard something on the news saying that it dammaged 2 sections of the shop that had been done up in the last year costing them a couple of million Euros.

So excluding their expensive stock that was destroyed, the re-doing of the shop included, I'd say its going to be an expensive settlement.

And I doubt that the builder still has his job.

Actually, probably not, most construction contracts specify that the client insures his own property and contents.
