    <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">From www.produxion.com
    Commercial broadcaster will get new name and new image as it struggles with falling ad revenues and pay-TV platform

    </font>

    ... interesting. I wonder will we get UTV1?

    What about S1 in Scotland?

    Why not. They changed the name of their digital version from TV-You to UTV2 some time ago.

    I know. But they often hagve different ideas to the network on these matters.

    As I've said elsewhere I doubt there will be a change at UTV, particularly just a few months after the last change. But knowing UTV, they'll probably tell us at 9:25am on the launch date.

    If they do change (and particularly if they were to adopt the new generic idents which will appear in the Autumn) it would be a first for UTV. They didn't co-operate in 1989, 1998, or 1999, why should they now?

    UTV still has not changed it's name in the banner for Ondigital boxes, like has been reported in England. GMTV2 is still broadcasting on channel 800 while in England its on the same channel as ITV2.

    So it is still "ITV Channel 3" then? When DTT started, ITV was listed just as "Channel 3" for a few weeks.

    Seems strange that they used the "Channel 3" name all when it would confuse things (after all, there couldn't be Channel 3 2, could there?

    Scottish and Grampian co-operated in 1989 - in fact the latter kept theirs right up 1998.

    Anglia, Channel and Granada didn't co-operate in 1989, however.

    I must say that I don't think that SMG and UTV will play ball. SMG want the channel to be Scottish, not British, in outlook, and UTV want UTV to be, er, UTV-ish - i.e. all things to all people.
