MTV was shown overnight on RTÉ during the mid 80's i think and TG4 or TnaG as it was known at the time showed QVC overnight about 4 years ago

Yep, they showed a block from Sky News from 11:30-1:30pm weekdays in 1990. This was at a time when RTE 1 did not start regularly until 2pm. The programmes usually were Sky News bulittens and the NBC Today programme.

QVC was on TnaG when it started. But some cable operators "censored" QVC (CMI Cable mainly) , and would cut the TnaG signal whenever it was on. They said that QVC should pay them to be one their system, and that it was not part of TnaG's output.

I don't remember MTV being on RTE though!

"I don't remember MTV being on RTE though! "

    - possibly a referrence to MT-USA on RTE2 Sunday afternoons around 1985. A brilliant Music video show styled on MTV in the US.

I remember CMT being on RTÉ2 which was a country music channel. I don't remember MTV on RTÉ.
