Looking at ICDG News I'm fascinated by the proposals of it's TV for Irish DTT (if they get the job). An 80Gb Hard Drive PVR with wireless modem. Sounds impressive. They also want the transmitters run at higher power so that 60% of viewers could receive signals via settop aerial or having a damned good signal from the roof!
Plus the 4 UK terrestrials will be a definite addition.

Maybe the Irish DTT won't be so bad?...

I believe Irish DTT will have less channels than UK DTT as Irish one will only have 5 channels per mux whilst UK I think have 7 per mux (multiplex).

    Not neccessarily true.

The requirement from the ODTR is to achieve Grade 4 reception for all programme channels. With major advances in statistical multiplexing over the last few years the new Multiplex Co. could easily fit 6 or even 7 channels on each mux.

    Looking for the Digital future
