How does one go about getting an FTA card? I live in the country and get bad reception for HTV and S4C, and I would love to pick up ITV and Channel 4. Do I need to know someone in the UK and get them to apply for me?
    cheers

    Sorry to be pedantic, but..

The term you should be using in Free to View (FTV) not Free to Air (FTA). The distinction is that channels like Sky News and CNN are unencrypted (FTA) whereas channels like BBC1, BBC2, CH4 etc are encrypted and require a card. The card is free in the UK hence the term "Free to View".

To answer your other question, you can obtain a card if you have an address in the UK. Email me if you want the details.

I've has at least a dozen emails over the last two days asking me how to get an FTV card and to be honest I'm sorry I offered. I'm reluctant to give out any more information for the time being. As it stands, a dozen Irish guys ringing for cards at the same time runs the risk of setting off alarm bells and screwing it up for everyone.

It's not difficult. I suggest you search the web/newsgroups for info on how to do it. That's what I did. Sorry to be awkward, but I hope you understand my position.
