Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sky Digital and Widescreen

    Hi everyone,

Thinking of going Sky, but I'm not too clear on how much of their output is transmitted in anamorphic widescreen. I hear that BBC is, but beyond that, does anyone know aobut the Channel 4 channels? How about Sky Movies?

And are films cropped to 16:9 on those channels or are they in their original aspect ratio?

Can anyone recommend a decent Digibox? I hear that Sony make a good one, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

    Thanks all

There aren't too many at the moment but some channels to include W/S are BBC, E4, Sky Sports and Sky Premier Widescreen. There probably are more but I'm unsure as I don't have a W/S telly frown.gif

Channels 4 and 5 are in widescreen, but obviously only if you are in the UK - or pretend you are.

Thanks for the help guys smile.gif

How do I pretend to be in the UK? Do I need to get a card sent to a buddy over there like with BBC or how does it work?

And do you happen to know if those channels are in Anamorphic widescreeen or just PALplus widescreen?

Anamorphic widescreeen is the standard used on Sky Digital.

Most BBC output these days is in widescreen, Channel 4 too (though it's not available in Ireland yet). ITV also shows a large number of programmes in the widescreen format and should be on Sky by the end of the year (they have a contract for transponders and uplink).

Among the pay channels, E4 shows a substantial amount of widescreen material, and Sky Sports is showing it's main coverage in widescreen these days. There's also a few smaller channels using the format.

Hopefully it becomes even more commonplace in the next few years.
