If u lot look up satelite frequency charts youll notice that Ireland[and Britain]seem to be some of the only countries in Europe and the Mid East that dosent have ANY channels terrestrial on European sats fta[Tara not included].**** poor countries like Iraq and Albania have them,as does most of the balkans.ALL of west europe has fta channels in space.Even places that arent official countries like Palestine and Kurdistan have them!Get your act 2gether UK and ROI.These 2 have thousands of their ppl living abroad and it dosnet have a service for them!Shameful!

There was me thinking that the BBC, Channel 4 & Channel 5 were broadcasting on Astra 2, with ITV to follow suit soon...

    Am I missing something?

BBC Parliament is FTA - the other BBC TV channels are not. They are FTV in the UK (and two of them are in ROI). The difference is that FTV is encypted, FTA is not.

You cannot just buy any digital STB and a dish and point it to Astra 2A. You need to buy a Sky digibox and get a card.

Richard-Not sure about this but i think other boxes other than sky digiboxes would work.Sky boxes are able to pick up fta channels on Astra19.2 digital so i assume boxes designed for that sat would be able to pick up Astra 28.2.Channels such as sky news,OVC,and others are available without a card.

Yes, they can - but there aren't that many worth watching. And my point was that most BBC channels aren't FTA and cannot be received without a Sky box.

I think my point "There aren't many worth watching" stands.
