Problems with reception

I have some problems sometimes with my Sky digital reception.
What happens is: sometimes when I turn on my system I will get black and white reception for a minute or two and then it will be fine.
Last night I lost reception completely 3 times and got the following message on screen: "No satellite signal is being received"

Is it possible that my dish is slightly mis-alligned ?

It's quite likely that the dish is misaligned. Go to Services>System Setup>Signal Test and see how strong/weak the signal is. Ideally, you need at least 50% Quality and Strength.

I have tried this but I don't get anything, the boxes for signal strength and signal quality are grey.

If the box is less that a year old give SKY a ring and they will come out free of charge to check the system for you. But if the dish is mis-alligned there will a charge.

i have put a signal quality test picture Here
if your dish is not aligned, there are not hard to realign, why?
you already say you can get picture, so we are only talking movements of milimetres to get it back on.

I think you have two problems here - sometimes the sat signal isn't getting through - but this shouldn't mean you get a b/w picture. Maybe your SCART or RF cable is faulty as well.
