Two Sky Cards - Need a solution?

I have two sky cards. An original ROI sky subscription and a UK FTV card (BBC's, CH4, Ch5). So if I want to watch CH4 I need to swap cards. I'm concerned that the card or the reader will eventually fail. So is it possible to ring the UK BBC card number and ask them to enable my Irish card. Would they know it was an Irish card? Or should I leave well alone? In which case can anyone tell me if continual swapping of cards is going to be a problem?

Insertion Life Cycles on those card readers is 5X10 to the power of 5, I wouldn't worry too much about that if I was you smile.gif

The cards life insertion cycle is pretty high too, however I made myself a nice device with 5 selectable card reader slots so I can just press a button to change though the cards.

Anyway I thought the BBC's were open on the Irish cards now? Someone else will tell you about that cause I don't have Sky.

BBC ONE and TWO ni are.

    CHOICE/KNOWLEDGE/NEWS24 aren't - neither are Channel 4 and 5.

BBC Parliament and all BBC Radio (apart from 5 Live) are available, though not on the EPG. The other missing UK Station is talkSPORT.

Thanks Blade for the reassurance on the card readers duty cycle. Ideally I would love to leave the card(s) permanently inserted. Is there such a thing as a digibox with two PPV reader slots (not including the "Open" one)?

You are correct in that BBC 1 & 2 NI are now available. My UK card gives "unregionalised" (if that's the word) versions of BBC1 & 2 plus C4 and C5. Also if and when ITV comes to Sky I would guess that I probably get that ahead of Irish Sky subscribers.

Ok well in that case he can just continue swapping cards, cause they do know from your card number thats its a ROI card. Either that or he can make a device like I did, infact you could easily hook a remote control onto it so you don't even have to get up of your @rse to swap cards.

I get BBC World News 24 and BBC Prime from Hotbird on Viaccess so I'm happy enough with them myself.

SkySter: No, not that I know of, AFAIK all the digiboxes are the same.
