IF you reboot your digibox and try again, this usually helps

Just thought I'd post the solution to this problem that I had.
I spoke to Sky and told them what the problem was, they front line support had never heard of the problem and I was put through to 2nd line support.

Turns out that the software and os were out of date.(Apparently there was an upgrade done in October and as mine was a new install the box had not been upgraded).

I was expecting to have to call the engineer out to have an upgrade done. This wasn't the case.

To download the software I had to switch of the box at the wall then simutaneously hold in the back-up button on the box and switch it on again.
After about ten seconds a screen came up saying downloading software, and all was sorted in 10 minutes.

Very impressive. Just thought I'd share this....

This is the standard "forced upgrade" procedure. It can be worth doing if you know an upgrade is going out, but you haven't received it yet (some boxes get them quicker than others.) The last major one was for Sky Text (digital) and the one before that took care of the addition of PlayJam and QVC to the interactive menu (among other things) - previously it just went to Open... I expect a new one in a few weeks to take care of the updated Sky Guide planner service.

BTW, the engineer really should have done a forced upgrade when he installed the system to ensure you had the latest available version.

    Trazix,

The version info which is on my (Grundig ver 4E0303) Digibox after the upgrade is as follows: O/S 1.2S3Bu, EPG O/S 2.7a.2*

The upgrade was down over the "airwaves" no phone line connected.

I'm not a Satellite engineer, but I am a PC engineer and as I would suggest to anyone "if it ain't broke don't fix it!"

    BNC

    From JC:

Note that the * just means you have a faster processor in your box - the original, older ones do not have a *, so don't worry if you have just 2.7a.2 for your software version.
