ITV ON SKY DIGITAL

    I rang sky and asked if itv willl ever come on sky and he said that it will be coming in december and c4/c5 are also having talkes with sky about coming on aswell so things are looking bright even though we will have to wait till december till itv comes on

    Sky are being a bit devious on this one. They haven't actually signed anything with ITV, but since ITV have leased transponder space on Astra, they will have to come to some sort of deal - either they pay Sky (a hell of a lot of money) for encryption plus a regulated (by the ITC or someone) amount for the EPG listing. Or they could pay for the extra rights to enable all ITV regions to be FTA, plus the regulated amount for the EPG listing. They will choose whichever is cheaper - at the moment the extra rights option is cheaper, but since Sky want the money they may do a deal with ITV.

    As for availablity in the Republic, I'd say UTV'd be very keen to get on here, but it'll depend on its copyright holders to some extent.
