Hi,

Just found your site a while ago.(You should try and list it on some of the search engines).

I have a question some of you might be able to answer for me. What are the 10 Music Choice channels that are available free.

I subscribed to Sky last week, cant wait to ditch Chorus
Has anyone had problems where on chorus the picture would pixelate and freeze. There was one occasion where we were watching Sky 1 and it froze for about 4 hours all other channels were fine. No apology from Chorus.<img src="../www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/mad.gif" ALT=" OLDREF="http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/mad.gif">:">
Looking forward to exchanging thoughts. And from reading some of the post's we should have a Chorus self help group for sufferers!!

Yes this is common on chorus due to the fact they are relaying a dodgy ondigital signal from the north. they wont say sorry unless you hound them and then you might get a weeks free rental!

Well done on getting rid of chorus!

the 10 channels are:
1 Hitlist
20 Dance
30 Favourites - Gold
10 Classical - Favourites
31 Favourites - Love Songs
50 Rock - Alternative
60 Easy - Easy
70 Jazz/Blues - Jazz
71 Jazz/Blues - Blues
90 Country - Country

The numbers are for the MusicChoice miniEPG. An easy way to go thru the 10 free MCs is by selecting a channel eg Hitlist and then use up+down arrows which only flicks thru the 10 free ones.

Will

I don't think they use an OnDigital signal - if they did there'd be no teletext and it wouldn't be the Irish version.

Thanks for the replies.

Another question for u.
When chorus disconnect their equipment do they remove the cabling aswell? The cabling and connection where in the house prior to me moving in, so I presume they belong to Chorus.

I've had an idea how about we come up with as many different names for Chorus as possible?!
I'll start us off.....Chaos!
Who's next?

(p.s. I'm having problems with joining ezboard I've joined but have had no confirmation email any ideas?)

When I rang Chorus to ask about cancelling, the guy sounded pretty depressed as if they were getting a lot of similar calls. I do feel sorry for them. There may well be job cuts at this rate.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

I do feel some sympathy for them and agree that job cuts are on the way, but have you ever spoke to them when you have a problem ? They couldn't care less.

And as for the promotion card that we recieved in the mail last year promoting their digital service and getting preferential treatment if you signed up! This was just a gimmick to see what feedback they'd get.

I'm getting wound up now!!

They have been touting their digital service for over 2 years and it still hasnt showed up here (south wicklow) yet. I got fed up of waiting for it and the crap analogue service. I got sky instead! their loss

Hi. My ezboard membership was finally activated. I'm now BNC! not Pixelate.

I watched BBC1 on Chorus Digital a few days ago, and it had the black bars (top and bottom of screen), similar to the analogue broadcast, so I would assume they are NOT using the same source as Sky (which broadcasts the Beeb in widescreen), so it may well be OnDigital. Anyway, UTV do not broadcast on Sky, so Chorus must be getting that particular channel from OnDigital.

Regarding Chorus cabling, if it's cable they will leave it there, and you might want it in the future, see below. If it's MMDS I don't know.

I guess we can't help complaining about Chorus. A year ago, I was all enthused about getting Chorus digital with the phone and internet (albeit on TV)

Now a year later, I've signed up with SKY and dropped Chorus. I felt I had to do this to punish them for their incompetence, but I still hope that they will come to their senses as a company.

If they did become reasonably competent they could make a fortune supplying all kinds of services. So, I'll just wait and see.

MMDS cabling is left there too. the guy who took the box and aerial away from my house 4 years ago said something along these lines, "get rid of the wire yourself if you dont want it"

As a matter of interest, does anyone know anyone (friend/family etc) who works for Chorus and who might let us hear what they think of the ongoing problems?

Firstly, OnDigital do not broadcast BBC. The BBC broadcast in their own right, although the main way to get their DTT broadcasts is via an OnDigital STB (the other way being via an iDTV).

Chorus must get their source off an analogue source - i.e. Divis or Brougher Mountain. They are obviously using the same source for Digital.

Ronan once told me (hope you don't mind me quoting you":

"The MMDS companies have a cable/microwave network (operated by Chorus but shared with NTL) that allows Chorus and NTL to rebroadcast UTV and BBC NI from all their MMDS transmitters"

All digital platforms in the UK carry widescreen versions of all the BBC's channels (apart form Parliament). The only difference between BBC ONE DTT and BBC ONE DSat (in Ni) is that there is no "analogue" teletext via DTT.

UTV's Digital version is on DTT and DCab (ntl ni) in widescreen format also. I presume, though, Chorus uses an analogue feed for their digital service. It remains to be seen how long this will continue. If you want anamorphic widescreen BBC in ROI, your only option is SkyDigital. Which is where I'm heading.

In Limerick Chorus use sky digital . I have ssen the programme menu being broadcast when they were tuning in the channels

I have a friend working for chorus and he is friendly with the people who are installing the Lucent equipment for the Local Loop. He claims there is a dispute between chorus and lucent about unpaid bills of 4 million and lucent have stopped all new installation work.

My friend says that chorus are not interested in TV long term . We claims there is a big share up in Management ( Steve Dunk "Leaving" ) and that sales targets are going nowhere .

"In Limerick Chorus use sky digital . I have ssen the programme menu being broadcast when they were tuning in the channels"

- Did you see it via analogue or digital?

If Chorus Digital are getting a digital feed of a particular channel, coverting it to PAL, then recompressing it, then that is ridiculous.

They should be doing what cable companies in the UK do - take a channel stream and broadcast it as it is. I hope they do. I am really surprised they are not doing this for BBC, although it may be that the BBC won't let them.
