    Chorus had 1200 people sign up for the Celtic-Rangers pay-per-view game on Sunday. Lots of pubs were packed to capacity in Cork that I know about, sandwiches were given out, and bar owners looked forward to bumper takings. What happens next? Due to a technical fault, all screens go blank, and no match is available. All the patrons run from the pubs, to other pubs who are showing the ganme via Sky Digital. Chorus 'apologises for any inconvenience caused' , and will refund the £8 to subscribers.
    Great publicity for Chorus - people are moving in masses to Sky, and can you blame them.
    That's £10,000 in lost revenue for Sky's pay-per-view due to Chorus's incompetence. Sky will be pleased!

    I'm actually surprised that Chorus have so many digital customers that 1200 would be interested in Celtic-Rangers. Any idea what the total number is? I've been waiting for nearly a year to be upgraded, ever since they first announced digital, and still they can't even tell me when it might happen. They appear to have no schedules at all. Also my contacts with them have been to put it mildly, unhelpful.

    Most likely I'll sign up with Sky.

    John,
    the blackout was mainly on the cable system in Cork City, but MMDS and Digital subscribers were also blacked out. I hear they charged publicans £125 for the pay-per-view fee, and they lost out on all their custom in the end.
    About 6 homes I know have Chorus Digital. It's okay - sound is good, picture is significantly better than analogue, but not as good as Sky, in my opinion. The on-screen menus are not as good as Sky's either.
    If you're wiating on customer service, don't hold your breath. I was told 3 times they'd install digital. I gave up in the end, and went for Sky.

    Today I got a mail from Chorus telling me a £2.50 charge was being added ("we're introducing service improvements for your benefit") monthly, or else £45 would be charged for future call-outs. (I had my service disconnted weeks ago).There is an option to opt-out of the monthly fee, you tick a box and ADD your own stamp to the reply card, They are extremely tight.

    The Examiner reckons they would have raked in an addition £7 million a year with this charge. We all know they are in serious trouble with the regulator if they don't remove the charge.

    The final comment on their card is "We are sure that you will approve of our new service levels. Our aim is to provide your home with a world-class network for entertainment, communication and information with customer support to match".

    How long do they think they can take the public for mugs??
