Cosmic gate is kinda techno.
So what if paul oakenfold is gone? and he is not.
Look at his last tune, southern sun, dj tiesto made an unreal remix of it and he uses it in nearly every set, A lot of other djs use it too.

In fairness it's Tiesto that made that tune what it was.
Oakenfolds remix was imo chart based.
Nothing against Oakenfold even like him live.
But yes playing for radio 1 generally has you playing the commerical side of dance music.

its pure oakenfolds tune. The remix is way better yes but its mainly oakenfolds. in my view all tiesto did was speed it up a bit and throw in a few heavy beats. (from an amateur view)

The only similarities i can see or hear rather are the vocals mainly.
such is life the remixer very rarely gets credit for his/her work done.
