yeah i seem to remember that they're was a talk program on the amiga 600. You type in what it wanted to say and it would say it, even pronunciation, and you could lower the tone and **** to make it sound more human !!!

    Anyone remember it ?

me i remember it but cannot remember the name of it..

used workbench to get into (on 500) i had one of first amiga 500 with a 1/2 a mb cost 40 punt to upgrade to a mb but a superb system.. I believe the 600 booted directly to workbench or was that the 1200 ?
all those posh amiga 600 + 1200 system users used to take the mick out of my 500. Someone should ressurect the amiga in a small carry around size to take on these crap hand helds..

I never had an Amiga, lads so I can't help you here.

However, (Queue LoGiE taking the piss for gratuitous Beeb reference) Superior Software's "Speech!" predates it by quite a bit and does excellent Steven Hawking impressions.

*SAY time and space is some weird ass messed up sh*t

    :p

    I had an A600.
The A600HDs and A1200HDs had the workbench on the drive and so could boot straight in.

    That talk app rocked.

Had the mother freaked out one day with it....

I had that speech prog for my beeb oz. If I remember right - could you not set some sort of delay until it said the word? I seem to remember making it say very loudly "Amy [my sister who hates computers] is a stupid b*tch" some time after I left the room! hehe. Now I could be wrong, my fantasy life and real life (tm) get mixed up these days!

I remember that program indeed! The funny thing about it was that it would also pronounce symbols eg it would say the words 'semi colon' when it came to a ':'

Needless to say that the day I got my first amiga I had hours of fun lauging at my computer as it said 'Excuse me, I need to go for a \'

It was called Say on the Amiga as well. It dates back to at least the first A500, which is '88-'89, and it might have been on the A1000 even earlier.

For some reason, it pronounced "Aoife" as "Alice", so it wasn't as smart as it looked. But it was miles ahead of most other computers at the time!:D
