I recently got a tube amp (5150 combo), I don't know much about them, never had one before. Just today it won't turn on for some reason. Its brand new, had it about a month. Can someone tell me if it might just be a blown fuse? dodgy tube? or should I drag it into a repair shop? Thanks!

I'm not sire if you already knew this. But tube amps have to be given some time to charge up!

There should be 2 switches on it. One being the power switch, and the other should be a standby switch.

Turn on the power switch (leave the standby switch off), and leave it for about 5 minutes. Then turn on the standby. See if it works. If not, turn the standby back off and wait another five minutes. Still nothing? Then take it to a repair shop.

Is it a combo amp, or a Head + Cab? If its a Head and Cab then you might have blown the valves from not plugging in the cab properly!

Hey thanks for tryin to help. Yeah it is a combo. Usually the power light turns on straight away, but it isn't even doing that :(
I hope I can sort it out myself, 'cos its sooo goddamn heavy- its like nearly 100lb or something lol

That's strange. The light should even turn on if a valve has blown.

If the light isn't turning on I assume there isn't any power getting into it at all. I've never messed around with opening valve amps so I don't really know how to be of any further help. I'd probably get it checked out. Hopefully it won't cost much more than €30 to get it fixed.

I wouldn't mess with a tube amp... if you're in Dublin try Soundgear in Sth Richmond St (near Portobello Bridge)

I had troubles with my bass head and got it fixed there for €20
