    Hi,

I am looking for a cheap word processor type machine.

Basically, it is for creatice writing. I havent got the cash for a laptop, but i want to get something where i can type and which can be easily edited. Ideally something wherei can create Word documents.

    Am i making sense?

Is there such a machine for 100.00 Euro?

Or is a laptop my only option

If it is only for creative writing. a very low spec PC should do the job. all you need is a copy of MS Word or some of the other Word Processing packages.
You should be able to source a system for the 100.00 Euros.

    Check the "for sale" forum.

Let me know if you need any other info.

I 'Might' have a machine that would suit. I could have an old scruffy Dell Pentium 75, really crap monitor (But it would do for Word Processing), CD Drive, small hard disk, floppy drive, no modem, with Windows 95 and Microsoft Word 97 but you would have to collect in Waterford. I am also unsure how intact it is, I occasionally canabablise these for floppy drives etc.... if you were interested I could check and get back.

    Thanks for the reply fellas,

I was actually looking for something portable, similar to a laptop. I travel alot with my job and i would like to be in a position to write when i want to. I have a PC at home already.

Do ye know of anything portable that i could use.

    MOTM

Just pick up a cheap second hand laptop.

YOu should be able to pick up an older low spec laptop reasonably cheaply. It should more than suffice for writing.

Hmmm for under 100 Euro, possibly a notepad and pencil.

Or maybe you could buy a really cheap handheld secondhand, perferably one with a keypad like some of the old HP Jornada series. Or perhaps even an old psion with a detachable foldable portable keyboard, you would get old ones pretty damn cheap.

To get a laptop for 100 euro, you'll have to buy something really old. So old that it will be a pain to run microsoft word on it ( unless you have a lot of patience ). Older laptop screens tend to be pretty crap also. You might want to consider raising your budget. Look in the buy and sell, category 450 ( computer accessories ). www.buyandsell.net or newsagents. Could try a wanted ad in buyandsell and on the for sale board also.

Just a reminder that while Microsoft Word isn't free, www.OpenOffice.org is. Only down side is that it won't be fast to load on an older PC , but how fast can you type ?

Are you still looking for something for wordprocessing only - if so might be able to drop something your way..

I might have an old laptop. I'll give it to ya for 100, which is pretty good. I'll have a look for it and if I get it all together I'll let ya know.
