    Does an empoyer have to provide pay slips?
    Legaly?

    legally yes.

    its a reciept of monies paid for a service, so you have to provide a receipt.

    unless youre doing nixers :)

    besides, if you are getting taxed on it, you need to have a record.

    why?

    Absolutely, a pay slip is as WWM said - a receipt.
