It's about time they got a 2nd driver sorted- the season starts in 5 weeks.
Irvine would have been the better choice because of the experience he could bring to the team and Massa didn't exactly light up the track last year. Hopefully Eddie is not jeopardising the teams chances of decent points this year just because Massa can bring a sizeable sum of money to the team.

I'm not feeling confident about the year ahead !

It will be a three horse race between Ferrari, Williams and Mclaren with Renault possibly getting a look in for occasional podiums. Even with the new scoring system being implemented I think Ferrari and Schumacher will run away with the Championships.
One of the motorsport magazines applied the new points system to last years results as an experiment and the only positions that changed were Minardi and Arrows I think. Ferraris lead was lessened slightly but Williams were still nowhere near challenging them.
Maybe the new points and qualifying etc. will give other teams the motivation to really challenge ferrari this season. My money was (a bit stupidly, in hindsight:rolleyes: ) on Montoya and Williams last year. Hopefully Montoya can turn very good qualifying into points.
As for Jordan, maybe 5th place in the championship behind the 4 I mentioned above. That's probably realistic unless Sauber can repeat their 2001 result.

I'm going to be very wary of Massa in that second seat, the guy has a lot of talent and speed, but he handles and F1 car some what like a WRC and lets not forget his one of those drivers who came into F1 one when things like traction control, automatic gears etc were standard and by Sliverstone most of them will have gone the way of old yellor.

I'm hoping this season for the top three teams to be kicking the crap out of each other, all those electronic goodies gone should make the scrap between very interesting indeed. I hope Renault suck, I really do I hate there team manager with a passion. I hope the new jag has aero flaws again and I hope jordan get the plug out and start racing.

The BBC now say that some English guy who was testing for Maclaren(he went faster than montoya in valencia testing) is now the favourite to get the last remaining seat on the grid.

he sounds good, I too am wary of Massa:eek:

    FROM Irish Independent ...

Firman to take second drive at Jordan - report
    Last updated: 03-02-03, 11:38

Jordan hope to announce their second driver this week with Ralph Firman moving into pole position for the job.

It was reported this morning that Firman, the 27-year-old Formula Nippon champion, would meet Eddie Jordan today to sign a contract to race alongside Italian Giancarlo Fisichella.

Firman has tested with McLaren and BAR after winning the 1996 Autosport young driver of the year award.

Firman and Brazilian Felipe Massa have been leading Jordan's shortlist to replace Japan's Takuma Sato, now the BAR test driver.

The Brazilian former Sauber driver, dropped by the Swiss team to make way for Germany's Heinz-Harald Frentzen, had been considered the favourite due to his experience and financial backing.

Jordan have made clear that whoever gets the drive must bring substantial sponsorship with him.

But a report in the Guardian newspaper today said it appeared that the anticipated funds had not materialised to secure Massa the deal and Firman was set to get the drive.

Firman makes more since, has way more experiance than massa and should be able to hand the step back in aids F1 is taking this year.
