Safari - fastest browser of all?

I'm trying out Safari on an iMac on DSL... it's nice and swishy fast, - beating the pants of MSIE on the same machine.

My question is - are there any benchmarks to show the speed of the browser compared with others such as Netscape 7, Opera 7, IE6, etc. ?

Oh - and is there a PC/Windows equivalent to it?

    No windows equivalent :(

Safari is based on Konqueror for linux, so if you have linux then you have a "version" of it, however I don't think the performance enhancements that apple made have gone in yet, they'll probably be in 3.2 or maybe 3.1.1 or something, but only apple bugfixes are in konqueror 3.1. Still though I find konqueror very fast to begin with.

Dunno about that re-bardimator. There is this
    chart01052003.gif
but it may not be as good as you want.

As for Safari on multi page opening/viewing - it is pretty crap at that, especially compared to iCab.

Normally I use Phoenix (A mini-Mozilla in the process of being rewritten in XUL). I find it very fast and better than Moz itself.

Chimera Navigator is my browser of choice at the moment - far far faster than IE, though it is missing some features like History. I'm looking forward to future versions of Safari once they get its compatibility up to scratch.
