Me and a friend are intending to go to france for 4 months in the summer to learn the language, we want to work and we were thinking of grape picking. Anyone have any ideas/experience about working in france, and any information on where i could find out about getting work there

you should have looked down the board a bit! I put up the same post as yourself. www.anyworkanywhere.com was the resultant suggestion. grape-picking is an option there! good luck with it. If I have any luck myself I'll let you know coz I'm in the exact same boat as you.

By the way, my french lecturer suggested a simple tried-and-tested method: write to the syndicat d'initiative in any given town and ask them about summer work. She say that's worked for students of hers in the past.
