Sounds like a great idea! Loved the original show.... From AICN (http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=14297)

More info (with some AICN-isms removed :))
The WB in which Richard Dean Anderson is back... but as UNCLE MacGyver!!! And wait for it.... MacGyver has a nephew!!! And he's twentysomething! MacGyver's lil nephew leaves school to join the Phoenix Foundation and comes to grips with filling his Uncle's rather large shoes (made out of newspaper and bubblegum) as he rights wrongs and defeats evil badguys... wherever they are...

Did you see the sh!te they made with 'Young Indiana Jones'?

Its a good idea if done right, but its really only a cash in on our memories of the cool theme music, and making of stuff from chewing gum and plastic pen tubes

Yeah but lets face facts that the Indy trilogy and MacGuyver aren't even in the same league.

The young indy series could never live up to it's predesessor leaving many dissapointed. This new McGuyver on the other hand doesn't have the same magnitude of legacy to compete with.

i thought the whole idea behind mcgyver was that he was an orphan who didnt have any other family??!!

why, why would they do that??!! why would they completely change the story of one of the most popular shows of the 80s just so they could do a cheesey spin off over a decade later??

reruns would be a better idea!!!!

The modern Swiss Army knife would have everything built in for a new MacGyver.

Young MacGyver just sounds so wrong.

The only program that was any good where the characters were young versions of the original characters...man thats a long explanation...was Muppet Babies ! :D

Crap idea for a younger kids story.

The Battlestar Galactica idea had some major problems I heard and they were going to mess with the timeline and original story. Bryan Singer was attached at one stage.

i can see sumthing along the lines of young MacGyver finding out that MacGyver was working with the baddies or has an evil background!!!
