What kind of things do you want to see and do?

I can of course recommend Greece's many islands.

    What price range?

I would recommend Berlin - its not expensive and has tons of things to see and do. It has a fascinating history and the nightlife is second to none.

Barcelona is also very nice, and not too expensive either.

You could also go to Brussels, and see Bruges and Antwerp while you're there.

Berlin is hard to get to, no direct flights makes it expensive :(

Have you looked at ebookers? They have a "best price" search:

    http://www.ebookers.com/afo/flights/bestfares.html?DEP=DUB&LARR=barcelona
These are the best deals booked to your chosen destination in the last 24 hours.

don't know how competitive those are, all I know is that they could beat USIT without any student consessions stuff on my trip to Warsaw (woohoo!).

I would agree with Gordon. Greece is great, very cultural an relatively cheap!

One of my friends is planning on going to Greece for the Summer. She found return flights from something like 200/300 euro. Don't bother trying to fly direct from Dublin, get on a plane to Heathrow and fly from there.

Once you're there you're gonna have to get the ferry from Pireaus (ferry port in Athens). Sail to Ios or Paros. These islands are pretty central to everything. Not too far from Athens, not too far from Santorini.

My parents took us to Paros around three times and we travelled from there. Believe me, the area is just beautiful. There are loads of beaches and plenty of nightlife. Go to Naxos for the nightlife, loads of clubs and loads of drink. Go to Santorini for a bit of culture - the dead volcano and the people covered with lava from millions of years ago (I'm sure there's a shorter way of saying that!)

Anyway, I'd recommend the islands, beautiful!

Agreed. I'm trying to get the money together to go travelling round Greece again this year. Been there at least once a year for the last ten years. A little bit of everything in Greece and although still relatively cheap, I hope your 500 yoyos doesn't include spending money.

My suggestion (voice of experience and all that) would be to not tie yourself to a date, keep checking the prices to Luton on Ryanair and trawl through all your available dates on the easyjet site from Luton to Athens. With a bit of luck you should get Dub-Lut and then Lut-Ath for about 200. Best not to book any accomodation in advance unless you're going in high season (unadvisable as accom will be 100% more expensive). For cheap accom, plenty of availability and more lenient weather, go end May/beginning Sep, arrive at the islands, barter with the ppl waiting to sell you accom and you should easily get 2 weeks out of your remaining 300, more if you're going with someone else.

If you haven't been to Greece before, Cyclades islands is the place to go. Try to spend one night in Athens though - although accom will be much more expensive - expect to pay about 35. Earlier suggestions for islands are spot on. Paros, Naxos and for some fun and games, Ios. For peace and quiet Sifnos. Santorini beautiful, but expensive. Beware Myconos is the most expensive island in Greece.

You'll love it all though and you'll be back. The latest edition of the Lonely Planet Guide to Greece will give you a better idea of accom.

    Enjoy.
