I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but in public you will rarely see a man carrying his walkman in his hand whereas the majority of women (on the other hand - oh i'm so funny ) do it all the time.

Does anyone know any psychological reason why women prefer to carry their walkman in their hand when walking whereas men don't?

most womens cloths dont have pockets so they are forced to and also its a habit i.e. they often have to carry there wallets in there hands.thats my theory

    • Women don't pick their noses while walking
    • Women need to hold it or they'll forget that it's there.
    • Men need two hands for groping testicles at all times.
    • Men keep it hidden because they feel it's "a little small"
    • Women are constantly changing the volume while men permanently have it on "11".
    • Men don't feel the need to twiddle the cable into a sailor's knot at every possible instant.
    • Women use it as a tool to not be chatted up by guys.
    • Guys use it as a tool to seem as if theirs isnt "a little small".

I go with irishguy here. Women are used to carrying things around in their hands, cos they don't have poockets on most dresses and women's pants. Men of course are used to carrying things around in their pockes, and most men would rather have their pockets bulging with a walkman/discman then have a hand occupied with a static object.........

I'm enclined to go with Irishguy here too.. but Gordons reasons are way funnier...
Women need to hold it or they'll forget that it's there
    ROTFL

[added] That means Gordon got my vote...

My minidisc goes up to 40 ! I also carry it in my hand rather than my pocket, I've never actually thought about it until now. Maybe I'll stop now after reading this lol.

.... coincidentally enough (as I've just discovered from picking out my Spinal Tap DVD to watch the bit in question) the 'Marshall Amp' scene is on chapter ELEVEN of the DVD.

Oh, I'm easily amused for sure.

I find your observations riveting and a jolly good laugh, may I enquire as to where I many subscribe to your periodical?

I do carry my Walkman in my hand all the time. Gordon told me it's the best way.

You could be really cool and fab and use the belt clip on the walkman. Clip it onto your pants/belt/frock. Gaurenteed to look really hip. (no pun intended)

Hey now, I told you it's the best way if you don't have a small gay handbag to put it in. Sheesh, talk about paraphrasing! :)

    1 Reason,
It makes it harder for someone to snatch it.

    # Men need two hands for groping testicles at all times.

I normally find one hand sufficeint.
Women are constantly changing the volume while men permanently have it on "11".

What about the obsessive people out there who will only use an even number.
