Foils are a waste of effort, they do nothing more in the game, so why get them? even if for their shinyness, its like little kids collected shiny coins.

This is really cool but does it look exactly like the MM Foil counterspell??? or with arena next to it instead of the MM sign??
    hmm... December 19, 2000 09:35 PM (#19256)

    from: Klarc (----.dialinx.net)
Actually, it's the exact same picture of the Arena AA Counterspell, except that they changed the sign from a circled M to DCI. Oh, well, here comes another foil to collect...sigh.

Interrupts no longer exist... When did you came back to magic??? this change was a lot of time ago...

Anyway, this counterspell is AWESOME... I wish I could get at least one...

    Instants vs. Interrupts December 20, 2000 12:38 PM (#19324)

    from: Yannick (----.proxy.aol.com)
Though this is a little off topic, it kidna goes with what was mentioned earlier.
WotC has messed up many of the rules in Magic, especially with 6th. Tapped blocking creatures do damage? Why? Trampling damage has to kill all the creatures before hurting the player? Come on, if a huge ass Force of Nature wants to ram over a birds of paradise instead of grapple with Verdeloth, can't he?
But I agree that the biggest screw up was taking out interrupts. They were some of the best concepts and were quite useful. Who the hell wants to interrupt an opponents spell using an instant counterspell?
And Banding was also a damn good ability, that they threw out because a few people did not understand it. Read a rulebook. Its not complicated at all.

    Win in Style?
I consider the moves I make or the combos I choose to be "winning in style". Or perhaps I just took out someone with 27 life in one move....that's style.

The pretty shiny surface of a foil reflecting all the pretty rainbow colors.....crap!

Give me a break...like they won't put foil counterspells in 7th edition or some other set in the future and they will go for $2.00.

I hope to play someone like yu next tourney so I can "win in style" the traditional way.

    shiny December 20, 2000 03:12 PM (#19341)

    from: squee's lackey (----.mcc.wwwcache.ja.net)
Shiny cards are good, because, it demoralises your opponent when they realise that all of the cards that can be foily in the deck are, it gives the impression of sombody with either:
a)a deck so good it just had to be foil
    or
    b) so much money it doesnt matter any more
i wish i had enough foilys to make a foily deck *sigh*
    cool December 20, 2000 04:28 PM (#19350)

    from: DJSC (----.proxy.aol.com)
that would be cool. i had a foil deck once, then i realized i could trade it for 6 or 7 good non-foil decks. it had 2 ports and a masticore

there are more reports and stuff on

    http://www.GamingReport.com/

Pokemon and M:TG are being scaled back as "they've hit their product maturity" point - fair enough.

Legends of the Five rings has been sold off.

D20 , D&D , Star Wars and OGL are to be unaffected (as far as I can see).

seemingly about 100 Wizards of the coast staff got the chop and the CEO resigned.
