Quick question for you In the first two Questions. A time frame of its use would be useful. I take it the system's where used for a number of Arcade games and therefore is not unique?(like old Konami PCBs) As for the others have a fairly good idea:)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 931 ✭✭✭ozpass

Yup. Both were used for a wide number of games. Hence the timeframe would give it away completely! I think mention of the word 'system' gives enough away TBH ;)

    6. Could she be a speccy?
    7. Although ive never ripped one open for a look inside i would imagine thats an atari 2600.

Disco Stu is 12.5% correct in his answers.....

    5 is a Commodore A500
6 is an Acorn (not sure but might be an Atom)
    7 is indeed a 2600

Never did much work with the inside of cabinets, but System would scream Sega to me. Is the edge connector also from a cabinet.

Yes it's pretty sad... but this is what happens when the mod of the retro forum has a morbid facination for PCB's/Old BBC Micro's and they're inards and then you let the posters from the emulators board well out of the emulators forum:)

expect the unexpected. there are probably people out there who find those pcbs sexually attractive :)
    5. Amiga A600 seems to be room for it's HD

its too deep to be an a600. i would agree with Occidental and say an a500. didnt the amigas install the hd on the side of the machine. the big gap to the front was where the floopy housing went(it was at the back in the atari st)

Never mind that... major error in that mouse and joystick ports are on the right hand side of the machine on an A600....post above edited

Don't think Vic-20 is correct, still think it's an Atom. I'm also doubtful about no.2 which I think might be the work of Namco, who also called everything system.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,277 ✭✭✭DiscoStu

    2. Namco NA-1

Sorry for the delay getting back to you lads, I had to buy surround speakers, pick up the gf and go food shopping.

    But anyways......

I can confirm that you are now 75% correct. Bloody well done tbh!

I'll give you some extra clues for the missing ones.

No. 4 had a laser disc attached......

I now realise I got my PCB pics assways with number 8, so discount my previous 'clue' which is totally wrong! Instead:

No. 8 has a Z80 CPU, sometimes ran CP/M and was manufactured in 4 variants, the latter ones having a built in monitor. Sold shed loads more in the states than over here. The name was the initials of the shop that sold it over here and the shop that sold it in the states...... :D

    4. Is indeed Dragon's lair.

    8. Is certainly a TRS-80.

Well done guys. Truly you have Retro Skillz. :D:D:D

    As an aside

if anyone would like to give a home to an Amstrad PC1512DD (1986) please let me know. I know it's a twin 5.25" with an 8086 chip. Not sure of mem or drive but will add to this post later.
