Got this in a email but can anyone verify this?
To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following on your phone: star hash zero six hash as (*#06#) A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset.
Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. Should your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the Sim card your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it, can't use/sell it either. If everybody did this, there would be no point in stealing mobile phones.

You can change the imei number on your mobile, all you need is a data cable for ~€15. Sorry to dissapoint you! Although your average person won't know that

no last i heard only vodafone was doing the blacklisting. Voda is on the international system where if a fone is stolen in germany it won't work on their network here, altho O2 are defeating this really by not supporting it. Meteor i don't know about

The reason some networks dont do it is because stolen phones make calls as well...
