Does anyone else have trouble with fender amps? i bought a fender princeton 65 for £250 and its messed up, it was a display model, maybe thats what cuased it, but if i play for too long, i assume its the wiring, but if i play for too long, the quality starts to rapidly deteriate, before the amp completely cuts out, forcing me to turn it off then back on at the socket. Im dreading it hapening if im playing for people, is this a problem for more people, or is it just me?

First things first, check that it's not the cables you are using to connect your guitar to the amp with. That's the first thing you should do.

Next, make sure its not the input jack in your guitar. Unscrew the input jack from the guitar and check that the 2 wires are still soldered to it nice and tidy! If not, solder back again. It's not hard.

Lastly, is it a Valve amp? I wouldn't say it's an issue with all Fender amps, because I heard they're quite yummy.

Anyway try out my suggestions and tell us if it's still happening.

ive tried the thing with the cables, i borrowed a cable of my mate to check that, and my guitar was recently repaired, the pick-up selecter was ****ty, so i got a new one, and the shop rewired it for me, that was only a fortnight ago, so i doubt that thats it, and ive played on my practice amp too, and havnt had the same problem with it. The wierd thing with this amp, is sumthing that i noticed by chance, moving the amp tends to affect it, when the amp gets moved, even just tilted a bit, the volume tends to come back temporarily, but this is a probelm that has gotten worse, when i first got the amp, it happened when i was messing about and turned the thing to full volume, played 'tourettes' by nirvana, its only a 2 minute song, but it cut out before the end. then it didnt happen much, but recently it happens after i only play about 3 songs, like 10 minutes into my practice

Heh. Maybe it just doesn't like Nirvana! ;)

Anyway, do you know if it is a Valve amp or not? I don't know how experienced you are, but if it were me I'd unscrew the preamp and have a look inside it and see if anything looks screwed up! But at the end of the day it depends on the amp and who's using it.

I can't really confirm anything without actually looking at it unfortunately!

P.S. Guitar shop repairers try to rip you off everytime! Learn how to do it yourself!

i played for a year and 8 months, but i have no idea about the technical side of things, if i opened up my amp id be coonfused and i would drown in a sea of wires and solder, i will look in there anyway, i have 3 years of technology behind me in school:P so ill notice if its really messed up:P

Be careful though. It doesn't really matter if you **** anything up considering it's already a bit buggered. Just unplug the thing before you do anything and secondly, take it apart carefully so you'll be able to put it back together again!

And for the third time... IS IT A VALVE AMP!!!??

    Hi,

There's a shop called Soundgear in Dublin - 24 Sth Richmond St (near Portobello Bridge)

Got me amp fixed there: it's nice people, they were quick and charged me just a few quid, give 'em a go.

I've no trouble with my fender champion 90, sweet amp. I did have trouble with my marshall, might give that soundgear place a go when I get some cash.
afaik, the princeton 65 is not a valve amp. www.harmony-central.com is a good place to see user reviews of guitars and amps.

my f00kin amp!!! i tried to look inside it, but to my dismay i relised i need about 4 different sizes of screw head, and about 4 hours to take off a hundred different screws in the right order, look inside with limited knowledge and look for wires lose, not be able to fix it even if i do see sumthing, then re-screw everthing in the reverse order from b4, switching my screw heads again!!! i couldnt be bothered withh all that crap, and im from the north, so a repair shop in dublin aint gonna help much, but thanks neway!
