hard drive problems?any1???

    I formatted my hardrive on my current pc and went to install windows 98 again but it said that windows setup was halted cos hard disk wasnt detected?what cud have went wrong??

    check ur jumper settings to make sure its the master drive and that ur bios can detect it. If not enter the values manually :) try that

    Watch the Boot Up sequence of your PC. It should show your Hard DIsk being detechted along with other IDE devices.

    You could also look in your BIOS to check the settings.

    Your Hard Drive is hardly connected to an onboard Raid controller? (Almost no OS'es detect these on boot from a CD)

    If all the IDE Channels are left to auto detect in the BIOS it should work.

    If you formatted it then it was working, i'd check the leads aren't loose. The restore BIOS defaults and try again.

    If this doesn't work try removing all other IDE devices and see if you can detect it. It may be set to single drive, i.e. wont work with a slave attached.
