What are the legalities of importing Tasers and Mace by the way?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,144 ✭✭✭Runfree

Not to sure about that. All I know is that some of these products are illegal in Ireland.

I'll find that out for you though.

Eh, I reckon by providing those links, what you are doing is tantamount to encouraging the (illegal) importation of weapons.

I think that you should seriously consider removing both links.

Not exactly a self-defence site, but very handy information about stretching and flexibility for martial artists. Thomas Kurz is a very well-known expert on strength and flexibility training:

Here's another good site that references Kurz's work:

I have a few more links like this in worky, I'll post some more up later.

What is wrong with Swedes doing some WWII Combatives training?
You not being into it does not make them psychopaths!
And they are the closest relations to Krav Maga you will find on the web Millionaire, if that is your real name! ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,248 ✭✭✭Millionaire

Ha ha I was saying they were pschos in gest :-) in fact if you look at the combat sequences they shot in there mock nightclub "the hole" u will find that they are taking the mickey out of themselves.

sure some people on here have been trying to make us self defense nuts out to be crazies here in thid forum. sure its all a bit of fun at the end of the day.

yes its is very related to KM. Great techniques too they have. and in fact they got a summer camp in sweeden in july which could be fun to attend.

There are no rules on the street! And remember, your attacker isn't worried about any legalities!

He may want to kill you and you need to do whatever it takes to protect yourself.

"Better to be tried by twelve than carried by six".

Better not to carry weapons at all, stay away from trouble and not get arrested.

Illegal weapons are illegal and its sociopathic to carry them.

Hi guys just found this forum and this thread and found it interesting (especially seeing a few of the owl "reliables" post here!). However, I have to say I am particularly troubled by some of what has been posted here. First thing to ask is was the original question related to Self-Defence or should it have read Self Protection because there is a world of difference, and if so clubs who specifically teach self protection not some of the crap that passes for "self-defence" really have no business passing themselves off as realistic methods. Secondly, anyone who thinks they can rely on mace/pepper spray/tasers/stun guns/personal alarms to protect/save themselves is not living in the real world. None of the above are worth a S*** for protecting yourself. Lastly, while I am not advocating the carrying of weapons I think it is naive to suggest to not even look at training with/against them is just silly particularly when you look at some of the stuff that carried on the street nowadays, putting your head in the sand or turning the other cheek does not work. Rant over! For a look at the world of edged weapons in relation to self protection try www.sayoc.com and btw I thorougly recommend the sites one of the previous posters put up with Geoff Thompson, Peter Considerdine etc
