Any time I do a continuous upload of a large file it disconnects.
I'm using the Alcatel Ethernet modem that I got free from the trial.
I tried looking for Firmware upgrades for this DSL modem but I couldn't find any on their website.
    Its the 128k/512k.
    Anyone else had similar problems?

yep, I had the same problem, with the same modem. Unfortunately since I've moved I don't have iStream any more, and I never did resolve it. I saw exactly the same on large uploads, as well as during gaming... it really grinds my @ss when it disconnects in a tight CTF game!
FYI I was running the modem on a std Linux RH8.0 gateway with NAT.

what do you mean it disconnects?

the transmission just stops? and how long does it take to reconnect?

most importantly, what have eircom had to say?

I have the alcatel usb modem too, with istream, and I have some probs gaming that may or may not be to do with my upload ability. Maybe somebody can clarify? I get a lot of choke, up to 95% at times of high activity. The way i understand it, choke is trying to send too much info to the server at the same time, and the result is the game choosing to eliminate some of the info to upload, am I right? Other ppl I've asked on the same package don't seem to get the same level of choke, and I have tested the upload speed, and doesn't seem to be as fast as it should be.

I searched around and found a new firmware and put this on. I haven't had time to fully check it out. But I was able to upload a 6Meg file without any disconnect.
In answer to someones earlier Q, It disconnects and then re-connects cause its set to reconnect. If it picks up the same IP on re-connect then the upload continues.
