Been watching some MTV the last few night EMTV about Eminem and was wondering why they bother.

Every song is butchered by the censors - I was watching at 12.30 last night and still the same thing.

Why do they do this so late at night? It's not only swear word they cut it's loads more.

Id guess its because all the programmes are packaged generically so they can be shown endlessly and they dont bother to do any MA versions of them.

i.e. They do a 'Greatest Hits of Eminem' and bleep all the swears so that it can be shown at 11:00, 17:00 and 22:00. They probably wouldnt bother doing the alternative version for one showing per day.

Most music videos are made originally cut anyway but MTV often adds in their own bizarre extra cuts. These can be over mentions of alcohol, very minor drug references etc.The worst ever was Jay Zs Girls Girls Girls.Im not a huge fan of his but it really was ridiculous-if I remember rightly words like "chick"and"squaw"(as in an Amercan Indian woman)were edited out.

Occasionally though there are a handful of uncensored videos. There was an uncensored version of Stan made.It actually goes out during daytime repeats of The Lick occasionally on MTV Base as The Licks original airing is at night and they often overlook this :)

They also have a rather strange "uncut" version of Without Me where words like bastard are left in but fcuk and sh1t and so on are still censored:confused: They also do this in the lesser played mix of California Love(Its a video where Dre and Tupac are at a house party, not the better known Mad Max inspired one).Anyway for some reason the word hoochies is edited out in this version but not in the other.

Theres also a handful of soft pornish music vids that get extremely rare showings, such as Tupacs How Do You Want It(I think its that one anyway.Saw it ages ago,its set at a strip club or something I think.Wherever it is all I remember is that nudie girlies were in it:) )and Lapdance by NERD(good stuff, lesbians and all:) )

Honestly,MTV have never been known for their intelligence when it comes to anything.Any already well edited video must be further butchered.

I've never understood what direction MTV UK were trying to go in...

About two years ago they had Richard Blackwood (where is he now?) and Dane Bowers doing shows amongst others...

Then they changed the formula - shelved those presenters and their shows and started running more stuff from America a la TRL... this was good too since it showed things months ahead of their first play here - despite the three week transmission delay.

After that, they tried to do some kind of a pathetic British TRL - accept they could only ever get an audience of about 20, and they had this rubbish presenter who has the most irritating voice of all time...

Now they seem to be trying to cram their schedules with as little music as possible - I flick through MTV at least three times a day and I haven't seen an actual music video in over a week. Instead I see Cribs, Wannabe, and other random garbage that has very little to do with actual music.

    Stupid MTV.

anyone remember Up for it-Live in the afternoon. Very student orientated i thought(it stoped me going into college many an afternoon)

then the scheduling guys switched it to late in the evening, jazzed up the set, and what happened.. It sucked, was canceled and nothing decent replaced it. All that was left was mtv select.
Pants pure pants it was-even though it did show us donna all the time.

I never get why the cover up logos on the clothes that the people they are interviewing are wearing and they do it with their videos as well.

I know MTV say well we broadcast to an audience which may feel the need to buy nike(OR whatever) just because some star was wearing it on MTV.

Actually MTV its more like "We're not giving free F UCKING advertising on our Network".

MTV has gone consistently downhill since Ray Coakes left, they shelved Beavis and Butthead, and started up MTV UK:IRL.

And I'm only 20, it's supposed to be aimed at me.

All of the MTV US stuff they show is complete trash. Whoever thought it up is either a typical US teenager, or someone who knows exactly how appeal to the typical US teenager. No entertainment quality in it whatsoever. I can't watch MTV anymore.

MTV's non music related "programming" is aimed more at 2 year olds than 20 year olds. Except the Osbournes, and even then that doesn't exactly have you up all night pondering issues brought up in the show, does it?
