I received the virus through Outlook Express a couple of days ago. Didn't notice anything until today however and I fear the worst for my system. It's definitely the Klez.H virus as all I've been doing since 6.00pm this evening is trying to get rid of the damn thing!

I've done alot of research and downloaded alot of removal tools(specifically for the Klex.H or variants virus) and none of them seem to work. Even the one by symantec just doesn't detect anything on my PC when I know the wretched thing is there! My Outlook Express & Norton 2002 don't work and alot of my other programs seem to be in a serious state of deterioration. Can anyone help me? I'm sure plenty of people must have come across this virus as I've read that it's the most widespread virus ever!

Advice from anyone who can help will be much appreciated :)

Btw my OS is XP and I'm using IE 6 & Outlook Express.

A comp in work had this, how we got rid of it was, created a Av-boot disk from a clean computer and ran the AV from there
    worked a treat
also just as a not I use F-Prot anti-virus, at that always caught everything for me

Alternatively, the following steps will circumvent virus and allow for proper VirusScan scanning/removal, by using the command-line scanner.
Ensure that you are using the minimum DAT specified or higher.
    Close all running applications
Disconnect the system from the network
Go to a command prompt, then change to the VirusScan engine directory:
Win9x/ME - Click START | RUN, type command and hit ENTER.
Type cd \progra~1\common~1\networ~1\viruss~1\40~1.xx and hit ENTER
WinNT/2K/XP - Click START | RUN, type cmd and hit ENTER.
Type cd \progra~1\common~1\networ~1\viruss~1\4.0.xx and hit ENTER
Rename SCAN.EXE to CLEAN.EXE to prevent the virus from terminating the process and deleting files. Type, ren scan.exe clean.exe and hit ENTER
    First, scan the system directory
    Win9x/ME - Type clean.exe %windir%\system\win*.exe and hit ENTER
    WinNT/2K/XP - Type clean.exe %windir%\system32\win*.exe and hit ENTER
Once the scan has completed, Type clean.exe /adl /clean and hit ENTER
Rename scan.exe. Type, ren clean.exe scan.exe and hit ENTER
After scanning and removal is complete, reboot the system
