Windows XP Question

A friend has windows XP set up on her PC. She is using a normal user account to do her day to day work on the PC.

Yesterday she bought a piece of antivirus software which seems to be to be conflicting with other antivirus software on her PC. So she uninstalled the new one, and went looking for the old one to uninstall. Its not on the "Add Remove" programs list. Its not on her start menu.

After a bit of digging, we found it was on another start menu (under documents and settings). So it looks like it was installed under a different username.

However, when she logs out, there is only one selectable user on the login screen.

How can she cleanly uninstall the old AV program? How can she find out what other users are on the system if she doesn't have authority to them and can't even see them?

    Thanks in advance,
    Dave.

If she logs in as Admin she can uninstall it from its root directory.

Then in the Add user she can remove the other user and all their files but the programs in someones start menu and documnets folder are only shortcuts to the real program.
So she can remove the AV that she doesnt want from tis root directory ie c/progfiles/norton

How do you log on as Admin if you can't see it? She only has the option to log in as herself on the login screen.

Its using the family-style login screen (where you just select a user) as opposed to the Win2000 login screen (where you press ctrl-alt-del and type username and password manually)

Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del twice at the XP logon screen. This will bring up the Win2k-style classic login dialog.

or press f8 when starting the computer, then choose safe mode.
you should be able to use the hidden admin account from here
