yep, its still trying to render the first frame. come back to me tomorrow and ill see if there are any bugs to be ironed out

nope not really, ive all but given up on mame and i cant find the damn cd with the disk images.

Gave it a go and as expected its sllloooowww as hell.... I read peeps with p4 2ghz are having problems getting KI to preform in MAME ffs!:rolleyes: . I'm looking forward to the next version of U64emu!

This is how to get Killer Instinct working in blasted MAME. Grab your KI.img file, and ROMs. Head to Tourniqet's site found at http://www.mameworld.net/tourniquet/ and download the KI/KI2 CHD Patcher/Generator you'll find it under Downloads&Misc to the right of the page. Unzip it to a folder. Put the hdcomp.exe file from the official MAME 0.63 distribution zip into the same folder as the KIPatch program. Put a copy of your KI.img file in the same folder. Follow the insructions found in the Readme.txt file included with the KI Patch. WoOt you got kinst.chd. Now unzip the KI ROMs into the same folder inside the ROMS folder in MAME along with the kinst.chd image, name your folder kinst. Go to a command prompt and type mame kinst. Game starts...slowly...Any questions:) ask away!

thanks Logie, i just renamed the file kinst.chd

i just tried it out now, its slow alright, the sound is quite good and i'd say it needs about 20% more speed to be close to it running on u64

20% I'm thinking it needs a little more then that tbh...
It's running very slow on most peoples systems even high end. A lot of the other emu forums I read are giving MAME a right bashing at the moment. We can only hope the driver will be improved. It's already been mentioned in this forum but there is no need for MAME to be like this. For example Midway games and CPS2 games also run extremely slow on a P3 500 when other emus run Cps2 at full wack no problem on the same spec. *The MAME devs should stop adding clones and more games for a while and take a look at how sound emulation is dealt with in MAME.

Downloaded this the other day
and was tryin to play Cruisin' USA and Cruisin' World
but the frame rate is too slow
havent tried killer instinct yet but when i find the rom I'll give it a go.

I'm sticking with U64Emu. MAMEs emulation of KI is just plain shíte

Hope your on a fast connection! Download the emulator U64emu while your at it:) so when your horribly disapointed you can run it at the correct speed.

Whats the problem? you sure you got the HD image? 125MB unziped. you need this along with the roms. Well you'll be missing out on a classic fighting game:) If your lookin for a game thats a little smaller for downloading grab Capcom sports club and load up FBA. Just downloaded it myself and don't know why I didnt get it ages ago!

Right i got what i think is the rom 4 or so MB as i recall from a certain chinese site then it sez im missin the chd file.
i suspect i downloaded the wrong rom file cos i saw it else where zipped at 90MB and my big dangly bits am i downloading that on a 56k.
wasnt a ibg fan of KI to start out with so im not that dissappointed.

yes killer instinct needs a lot more work, of the new mame063 games, i'd recommend neo turf masters, its an absolute gem, this is what all golf games should all be like

Turf masters been emulated in MAME for a good while now but it's a damn good game:) Other good golf games emu'd in MAME imo are....

Tee'd Off
Major Title
Major Title 2
Top Player's Golf
Golfing Greats


Personal favorites from the above would be Major Title 2 and Golfing Greats
