I bought a cd on Ebay (Germany).

I was thinking of send €15 via registered post - Is this safe or would I be better to get a bank draft?

use the post to do it, they have a method that allows you to give them money and they are responsable that it reaches the other side safe. Dont sent it in an envelope it will never get there

I've bought alot on ebay, and sometimes you have to use cash. What I do is get 2 sheets of A4 paper, fold them, and put the money inside.

Even the most observant postal employee won't know there is money in there.

Placing the money in a thin sheet of tin foil is another method.

What's this called and is it expensive to do?

Registered post won't accept money going to Germany (it's illegal on the German end).

For best results, dont write on the envelope, Print the address.
And use a big A4 Envelope.

If you were a post guy, which would you notice more?

A small handwritten envelope with a strange bulge inside.

Or a large printed envelope with sheets of paper in it.

I am a very frequent eBayer - just paid for a DVD this morning and yet to pay for a SODIMM stick (>£100).

If you check the auction page that you won, you can verify if the seller accepts Paypal or similar fund transfer services. Most of the reputed (or experienced) sellers do. Its quite easy, relatively safe and absolutely cheap (Zero cost at the buyers end) to pay thru Paypal. Initial (one off) account setup might take a couple of days though.

Now, about sending money on the net, if you are careful enf to check out the digital security (https - that small lock symbol that comes right the at bottom of the screen), you wont have to worry about losing out your credit card details to unauthorised parties.

Also, do be careful when buying in eBay. Its advised to check the feedback and history of the seller to see how professional and reliable he /she is.

    Hope this helps,

    124.

I buy a lot on ebay and have posted cash to germany, the UK, and the US numerous times. Never had any problems. I usually use a pre-paid registered envelope (plus extra stamps when posting to overseas) which I think conceals the cash better than a normal envelope, also the paper used in the reg envelope is stronger and more resistant to getting wet. Several times I posted a *lot* more than 15 euros If you flatten out the notes instead of folding them you can get a lot into an envelope with no signs of bulges...so if you're only sending 15 euros you should be ok.

registered post is a form of secure post which under no circumstances can be tampered with. it is a type of post which only the recipient can sign for and open. it is used for posting goods, money, cheques etc.

i often sent cash through ebay and it is perfectly safe. they are guaranteed to be in big sh/ite if your post is not delivered within a certain amount of time or if they do not reply to correspondance(emails, etc) as well as getting negative feedback. any dealer i have dealt with are decent enough. i would advise you register your post or at least get a proof of postage which is a free stamped certificate available at all post offices
