    As far as I know it's because that's how many people sat down to the Last Supper. Could be way off the mark though.

    I'm not of it's origin but I'm very wary of the number 13. I wouldn't live in a house that was number 13, and I usually try to avoid doing things on friday 13th. That's superstitious for you!

    Something to do with a baker's dozen perhaps?

    Dont ask me how, but I wake up normally about 7am by myself (no alarm) in the weekday mornings, and about 2 in 10 times I wake up to see 7:13 on my radio/clock. I usually wait till 7:14 till I get up because of I guess superstition, although recently I've been jumping out of bed at 7:13 to see how my day would go.. funny enough, they were good days :confused:

    lol no it ain't that

    i saw a proggy on tb about it, i don't remember it all but

    i think it was the templar knights... some french king or something grew jearlous of their riches and power so he organised a huge assault/ambush on them, and alot of them were massacred, on friday the 13th. the day became unlucky after that event.
    {edit}
    or maybe they weren't massacred

    some links there... apparently they weren't masacred, but were arrested and imprisoned.. heresy and all that

    I've done quite a bit of reading on the Knights Templar. They were arrested on Friday 13th 1807 (if memory serves, but it could be worng) and excecuted after a parody of a trial 3 years later. Pretty impressive - Philip II of France managed to orchestrate the capture of all the Knights (most of whom were "old" at that time) in numerous centres across the country at the same time. That's good admin for a time with no form of long distance communication in prevalent use other than people runnnig/riding around :)

    I dont believe in the 'unlucky 13' stuff.

    But I got to admit, 'Friday, the 13th' was a VERY VERY bad horror film. Now, is it because there was 13 in its name? I am not sure... :rolleyes:

    Was just reading about it originating in France, but when I lived there I was told it was a day of good luck :confused::confused::confused:. Go figure.
