What is a .pif file does anyone know?

I have an oceanfree.net mail account and I've just received a mail from Big@Boss.com (I've no clue who this is) and it has a file with a .pif extension attached.

When I saw it I was immediately wary of a virus or whatever but my oceanfree.net mail account has never ever received any spam or anything, unlike my hotmail account.

I'll probably delete it without opening it but incase anyone might think its genuine can you let me know!

PS if this post is in wrong forum can some1 move it , thx

As Typedef says, this is a virus, a PIF is a Program Information File, which is basically an instruction file for Windows to run a program, which, most likely, will do harm to your PC in some form.
    Delete it immediately.
Oh, and run your virus checker afterwards, just to be sure.
