Vodafone rant

    I'm sorry, but I have to get this off my chest. I am seriously pissed off with Vodafone.

    In September, I had a problem with Vodafone .

    After much to-ing and fro-ing, Vodafone, as a "gesture of goodwill" gave me a months free line rental (or whatever they call it). Considering I was without the phone for three weeks, it amounted to one weeks free line rental (and the bill was 550 Euro, so it was negligble)

    Now I have decided to change over to Ready to Go in desperate anticipation of the time when we can keep our numbers and move around mobile operator. I sent in the form before Christmas and on Sunday, my phone stops working (can't make calls/send texts).

    I sent Vodafone several e-mails (to both car@vodafone.ie and readytogo@vodafone.ie) all of which where duly ignored. I eventually rang them and they told me that when I was converted over, I had to add call credit to start making calls. When I did add call credit there was a voicemail there from Vodafone telling me this, but because I couldn't make calls, I couldn't get the message!!! AAAAAAGGGGGHHH! Incompetent half-wits.

    </end rant>

    I'm sorry, but if there was any semblance of competition in this country, these companies would not be in business carrying on like this.

    TD.:mad:

    hi Bentonio, sounds like a nightmare - you could try calling Voda customer support direct - it sounds like they need set up your your SIM card with your new account so that you can connect to the network (how old was the sim card? - they were insisting that people upgrade their sim cards to 32k versions last year for GPRS services)

    for your bill account you need to call 1800 22 55 88 and have the SIM card number (shoudl be printed on the card) and account number details ready - hopefully you will get through to someone who will help

    with your readytogo sim you need to call 1850 20 87 87 - not sure why it wouldn't work as it should have had call credit on it already (if it was a new RTG sim pack) - they should be able to tell you if there is any credit on it

    hope it works out for you

    Vodafone in the Netherlands - Excellant service

    If I have to deal with the Vodafone customer "care" team in the near future again I'll jump out the 4th floor window I'm currently sitting at. I was enrolled in "Eiroffice" a data services suite when I bought my new phone (which coincidentally is not compatible with the data services suite). I never requested this service, yet have been billed for over a year for it. I know its a pittance (less than 4 Euro a month- but its over a year later and they have no yet turned it off (despite 7 faxes at regular intervals from January 2001, 3 letters to their people in Dundalk, and God only knows how many pleading phone calls). Its cost me around 60 Euro so far, and counting.
    Just for good measure they are refusing to allow me to upgrade to a "data services compatible handset" despite the completion of my 1 year contract (well actually my 6th 1 year contract), because I did not spend enough money on my account in the last year to be classified as a "valued customer" (I was abroad for a while and only paid the line rental). I've had it. If you think I am pissed off with Vodafone, wait 'till I tell you about my dealings with NTL, but thats for another thread......

    Vodafone in the Netherlands- currently under investigation for monopolistic collusion with KPN, MM02, Ben and Dutchtone over mobile price fixing (in particular over collusion in the reduction of handset subsidies)
