I have a Creative Labs Geforece ti 4200 with s-video and RCA tv-out.
Can anyone tell me what extra hardware I need or what type of cable I need to get composite out so I can hook this up to my PAL TV.

I had a look on the net but that just left me more confused. I think I might need some type of mudlator like I used back i my amiga days but I am just not sure.

    Regards

    Deu

Generally speaking when a graphics card manufacturer puts a TV out function into a card, you only need the cable to connect it to the TV, the modulation and stuff is done within the card.

I have a Vodoo3 with S-Video out, the connector looks like a larger version of a co-axial cable (commonly called S-video:D ). I just plug one end into the card, the other into the TV.

Now this is where you may have a problem. If it is a new TV (last 5 years) it should have a SCART connection (large square-ish socket). I have an adapter for the SCART socket that takes in two audio (left and right, red and white respectively) and one video (s-video, yellow) and I can then see my PC screen on the TV. I got the SCART adapter in Woodies, I think, but they are easy to come by.

    Hope this helps,

    TD.

Personally, I found that I couldn't get my card/drivers [I also have a Ti 4200] to detect the TV, so I had to go get a copy of TVTool http://tvtool.info/index_e.htm, which worked a charm. Be sure not to pay too much for a SCART adapter - I nearly spent €17.99 on one in Maplin before finding a near-identical one for €3.00 in Power City. If you don't already have the cables, they had a kit with cables + adapter for (I think) €12.00

I had the same problem with a friend's PC - the simple solution was to power off the PC, disconnect the monitor, plug in the TV and have the PC boot with the TV attached. The card will detect the TV.

Of course, you will have to re-boot to get the monitor back, unless you have software in the Display properties that lets you switch (my friend's didn't).

I'm not 100% sure, but I think if you need Composite you can just tie together the two signal lines of the S-Video output. If at all possible though, stick with S-Video either through an S-Video socket on the TV or through a SCART adapter. The quality will be much better - once you go marrying up those two signals it's very messy to get them apart again and the cheap electronics in TVs generally do a poor job of it.
