won't work, in fact for next season the FAI are actually increasing the number of point scoring positions to 8. The problem at the moment is that the top teams, Ferrari, Williams and McLaren have access to so much more money than the other teams, and so can afford more staff, more high tech facilities, more testing etc etc while the smaller teams have to rely on a small group of hopefully innovative engineers to coe up with something to bring them to terms with the big boys. The problem there is that if an engineer shows promise in the smaller teams they get bought out by the big teams.

The big problem with the sport today is that it has gone from racing to chasing. You tune in to see a procession around the track, very little overtaking. You are lucky to see the front runners nose to tail alot of the time. As a spectator sport it is nowhere near as enjoyable to watch as it was 5-10 years ago.

If they get rid of the front wings, they will have more difficulty in corners allowing those behind to cacth up in the corner. Getting rid of rear wings might have a similar effect but we dont want to ruin the cars altogether. And bring back slicks.

If people in the cars had some sort of wepon, like an oil slick gun.
that would be cool. or is the road was wider so people could over take. yeah and if there were spikes instead of tyres maybe sato wouldnt be so fong of shewing barrier.

    muahahahah

I have no Idea why I never check my messages, but my spelling mistakes are getting worse. I think its a good challenge for those trying to read it,

I ment "chewing barrier" in the last post

FIA are on the right road the moment spanding out the point to take in the first 8 position forces the slackers behind the front runners to pick of the pace, the mid field should be very exciting to watch this year.

Qualifying is good too, Mick Shumacher out first, unless michillen come out with tyres made of some special tyre to track velcro the top 6 places on the grid should be churned up a good bit, and since theres only something like 5% behind all the F1 cars it should be more exciting.

One thing I'd like to see removed is yellow flagging back markers, and launch control.

    The following should be binned;
    traction control,
    launch control,
    automatic gears

Listen here chappy, this is Formula1 not Formula Ford in Mondello...

Aerodynamic are critical to F1 but unfortunately they have become the most important factor in a winning car.
There is nothing that can be done..

If the FIA specify in the rules that all F1 teams must reduce the surface area of the front/rear wings by "x..50%" then what Ferrari/Williams used to spend getting an extra 100kgs of clean air will be increased relative to the change in the Aerodynamics change.

I know the FIA had extreme difficulty in policing EMS and so we have the electronics free for all but the extreme difficulty even the tops teams had getting their new and with the regulation toys working (hello Mclaren) suggests they were all within the rules to begin with.

But the FIA should outlaw Launch/Traction control, fly by wire throttle, dynamic braking (outside wheels turn faster in braking making cornering easier) and semi/automtic paddle shifting gears.

Slicks would be a very welcome return.

Allow the cars to run as close to the ground as a team deems possible (out with the plank) but ban the rear difuser.

I can only suggest, but the driver should be the most critical part of the car so if the FIA can do this by any means then i dont care.

I think Bernie is going to scrap F1 anyways and turn Champ car into the new F1, especially since the American market is already broken and champ car uses V10 next year with euro manufacturers apparently already to go and make some power units for em.

    Your missing the point completely..imo!
Currently F1 operate at such an extremem level that it is judt impossible for most drivers to be asked extra and overtake, most are not good enough.

F1 cars are amazing at high speed, almost on rails but the rule changes the FIA have implemented have take the mechanical grip away and so the driver has zero control at lower speeds which is where overtaking is likely to occur.

Most F1 cicuits are low to medium speed but the cars are not designed for racing wheel to wheel on these, they are simply designed to run quickly but all alone. Put 22 (maybe only 10 be next year :)) and you have 22 racing cars, with an inability to race.

i'm all for technology, but at the cost of making the "sport" so predictable.

traction control, launch control and any other computer aided gizmos should be taken away. i mean look at any of the top teams steering wheels, it looks more complicated than nuclear physics!

It's all a bit of a moot subject really, Mick Schumacher is the best driver technically anyway, I think he will even end up further ahead of the field when the gizmos are gotten rid of.

I cannot wait to see Coulthard in a car that he has no electronics to rely on, he'd want to take an active part in the redesign of the armco barrier system, seen as he's going to be spending the rest of his "racing career" in them.

And as for the "drivers" who are there because of the sponsorship they bring, or because their daddy is some rich bigshot, they are going to kill someone.

:D yeah, he could probably fit his own armco barrier on his jaw.
